Excel Bank Uses .BANK Web & Email Domain
In 2021, Excel Bank took a step to significantly improve and strengthen the security of your interaction with us over the web and via email communications. We changed to a .BANK email and website domain!
One of the biggest challenges financial institutions face is the continual threat of cyber-attacks. Unfortunately, banking has remained one of the most ‘phished’ or targeted industries for more than a decade. Publicly available, unrestricted, and inexpensive web domains (e.g.., .com, .net) enable bad actors to easily obtain lookalike domains to execute business email compromise, phishing and spoofing attacks that lead to breaches, identity theft and financial fraud. We understand that now more than ever, we need to ensure that our clients can easily verify they’re interacting with their bank, and not a phishing scam or spoofed website. We're taking action to ensure that your digital experience with us is safe and secure.
Here's a quick FAQ to help answer questions you may have about this change in our web and email domain:
What is .BANK domain?
.BANK domain is a type of web domain that is functionally similar to .com or .net; but is exclusively available only to verified banks that have completed a rigorous registration process. .BANK prevents look-alike domains, making it easy for anyone to immediately identify legitimate bank emails and websites versus business email compromise, phishing and spoofing attacks. The .BANK “Stamp of Trust” creates verified online and email platforms that are prepared for digital banking products and services where banks provide actionable financial information. We understand that now more than ever, we need to ensure that our clients can easily verify they’re interacting with their bank, and not a phishing scam or spoofed website. This change represents what we’re doing about that to ensure that your digital experience with us is safe and secure.
Why .BANK?
As a verified domain, exclusively for the banking community, .BANK is a more secure space for online banking and communication. A web or email address ending in .BANK quickly and easily confirms for client-users that they are communicating and transacting with Excel Bank, and not a 'phisher' or a spoofed site. A .BANK domain is a visual cue anyone can look for and recognize, as an online stamp of trust that will give you confidence interacting with us online, and help protect you from bad actors collecting data for breaches, financial fraud and identity theft. There are significant benefits to this change.
Is the bank's website and email domain different?
Yes. Our primary website URL is: www.excel.bank. Our bank staff email addresses will still use the same nomenclature of first initial and last name; however they end with our .bank domain name, @excel.bank (Ex. Shauna Shalom email address: sshalom@excel.bank).
What will happen if I try to send an email or access the website on the old .com addresses?
We'll still receive your email and you'll still get to our website if you use the .com domain addresses. All email and web traffic sent to the our old domain (.com) domain addresses will be automatically re-directed to our EXCEL .BANK addresses. This re-direct will be in place indefinitely; however it will be a good idea to start using and saving our EXCEL.BANK email addresses and web URL as soon as you can.
